Busy. It’s a word that has become ubiquitous in our language and culture. And it’s not without reason. I’m always amazed at how gracefully my couples manage planning their weddings in the midst of all this busy-ness, because if there’s one thing I know about my couples, it’s that they’re going places. I love hearing about grad school, new jobs, training for a race, or jetting away to check another destination off their bucket list.
So I think that’s why it can feel so indulgent those times when you let yourself slow down. A night of Netflix and chill cuddled up together on your couch or a morning coffee with a good book. And while an engagement session does have to be scheduled, I like to think it can be a chance to slow down too. Turn off the phone and tune into each other.
I met up with Meg and Eddie one early fall morning for their Arnold Arboretum engagement session. While many folks gravitate to sunset (also known as golden hour) for portraits, sunrise has the same beautiful light and the added benefit of giving you the place to yourselves. And living in a city, that’s a real treat. It’s always special to witness a couple’s unique bond, and I loved seeing the quiet ease of Meg and Eddie’s connection and the smiles they drew out from each other.
