Earlier on my blog, I alluded to the fact that photography has been a winding path for me, with starts and stops. I wanted to share this photo, which represents one such beginning.
I’d been to the farmer’s market that wonderfully warm fall day, and decided to indulge in some fresh flowers. Late in the afternoon, I wandered through our dining room. Arrested by the sight of the white ranunculus illuminated by a shaft of light streaming through the back window, I couldn’t not take a picture. I ran up the stairs, loaded a roll of film, and hurried back down, afraid I would miss the light. At the time, I hadn’t been doing much photography. I was busy pursuing other dreams. But I credit this bunch of ranunculus, and that shaft of sunlight, with putting a camera back in my hands, and putting me on my current path.
