Marion and Andrew met in Montreal. After a year of long-distance dating, Marion moved to Boston to live with Andrew. And a few months after that, Andrew said “no way you’re leaving, let’s get married.” They made plans for their Boston City Hall wedding as soon as they could gather their close family together, just a few days before Christmas.
Marion got ready at their Beacon Hill apartment with her mom and sister. Andrew returned for a relaxed first look in their kitchen. Armed with an umbrella, they braved the cold December rain to make some portraits in Boston Common. From there it was a short cab ride to city hall, where they joined their families. Not everyone appreciates the aesthetics of Boston City Hall, but I enjoyed creating photos in this space. The lines and light were so suited to black and white images, and Marion had requested that all the photos be delivered in black and white.
After the short and emotional ceremony they returned to their apartment for champagne. In the warm glow of their first shared home, Andrew’s parents delivered a toast to the couple in French, Marion’s first language. And Marion’s mother, an artist, gifted them with one of her original pieces. It was a joy to witness these sincere outpourings of love for the couple and the love they found together.
