There’s lots to love about a destination wedding. Getting to share a vacation with all your guests. A new place for everyone to explore. The sense of community that develops through the course of events. And the beautiful setting and distinct sense of place it lends to the images.
While talking about portrait locations in the lead-up to their Ace Hotel New Orleans wedding, Claire almost wistfully mentioned how they’d like to take portraits in a cemetery, but it wouldn’t work in their timeline. So I suggested doing a day-after session as a way to make these images happen. These sessions can feel a little more relaxed, with fewer time constraints and fewer concerns about getting the hem of your dress dirty.
With the pressures of wedding planning lifted, and that quiet joy of being newly-married, we walked the paths of the iconic Lafeyette Cemetery on a sunny morning. It was such a delight to make this extra set of portraits for Claire and Andrew, and being able to highlight their deep connection and playful rapport.
