What stands out most about Kate and Josh’s wedding is the joy they brought to the day, and the intense sense of connection between the two of them and with all who shared in the celebration. They wore huge grins, gave big hugs, spoke heartfelt vows, tipped their heads back in laughter and lived each moment to its fullest.
I started the day with Kate at her parents’ home, and loved seeing her and her sister Britt helping each other get ready. Britt painting Kate’s nails, Kate helping Britt with her necklace, Britt zipping and buttoning Kate into her dress. Kate decided on her jewelry at the last minute, looking through her mom’s jewelry box and selecting an antique jade necklace and silver cuff bracelet that had belonged to her great grandmother. Kate’s dad drove her to the Beverly Yacht Club, where she and Josh shared a few private moments before taking some relaxed portraits and then joining the rest of the wedding party and their families for group photos. They held the ceremony at the historic First Congregational Church, just a short walk away. Kate and Josh returned to the yacht club by boat, joining the cocktail hour which was held on the lawn under a grey sky. Thankfully, the rain held off until everyone moved inside for emotional toasts, delicious dinner and energetic dancing.
