Annelise and Niklas met at church in Cambridge. At first, the timing didn’t seem right. Niklas was finishing business school, and planning a move to California for a dream job. His eyes were set on his goal.
But he had caught Annelise’s eye. As we learned during her sisters’ toast, she followed the adage that the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. So one time when Niklas was sick, Annelise cooked him a big pot of soup. His eyes were opened.
They started their relationship, which soon turned into a long distance relationship. But less than a year later, Niklas was back in Boston and the two were engaged.
Annelise and Niklas share a love of the outdoors and visiting museums. The Fruitlands Museum was the first wedding venue they visited, and they knew its natural beauty was ideal setting for their fall wedding, where they were excited to gather everyone they loved together in one place.
The ceremony, under a warm fall sun and with a beautiful view, was led by their pastor. Their family and friends provided music during the service. After, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the terrace as the sun set over the valley.
One of the indelible images in my memory of their wedding is the joy on Annelise’s face as they entered the reception tent. This was followed by their wedding waltz – a tradition in Sweden, where Niklas grew up.
Dinner was bookended with toasts from their parents and siblings that were both loving and light-hearted. Finally, the dance floor opened with a mix of American and Swedish music.
