It was one of those hot summer days, the air was heavy and the wind was picking up. A storm was brewing. But so was a wedding. Inside the Peacock Alley house, Haley was getting ready with her mom, sister and friends.
Haley and Brendan shared their first look on the back deck, overlooking Bristol Harbor. And they made sure we had time for a few images with their beloved Keeshond named Popover, before walking the short distance to the Herreshoff Marine Museum for their wedding. They told me that at the rehearsal their minister told them how cool their ceremony rain plan location was, and in their minds that virtually guaranteed rain. Within minutes of arriving, the skies opened and it poured.
Haley made her way down the aisle lined with friends, family and vintage sailboats. She and Brendan then ascended to a ship’s deck, where their minister awaited to perform the wedding service. I loved the moment mid-ceremony when Brendan was overcome with emotion and Haley gave him a quick hug. Afterwards, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the museum and posed for Instax photos in captains and sailors hats.
Under the reception tent, Haley’s father welcomed the guests and toasted this game-loving couple using several boardgames as props to emphasize his message. As the toasts concluded, so did the rain. We made our way to the dock to make a few more couples portraits in the pearly light. Haley and Brendan then kicked off the dancing and the Honey Train band kept guests on the dance floor all night.
