Emily, a doctor, and Kevin, a lawyer, met through mutual friends, and first bonded over the appropriate use of punctuation. They wanted their wedding to be casual and understated, and they chose the first weekend when their friends and family were available. Emily and Kevin live in Jamaica Plain close to the Arnold Arboretum, where they’ve shared many special moments, and so it was natural to choose to marry there and add one more beautiful memory. After getting ready together in their apartment, they walked to the arboretum, where they greeted their guests. Despite heavy rains the evening before, the weather held during their personal ceremony, led by the judge for whom Kevin had worked when he and Emily first started dating. The ceremony included a ring-warming, readings by both of their brothers, and the tearful exchange of vows written together. Afterward, we made a few portraits, with the vibrant fall foliage and colorful umbrellas.
