When a year passed from their engagement, and neither E nor M had made any moves to plan a big wedding, they decided to have a small wedding. As they told me before the wedding “We are fond of a quiet day shared with the people we love, and felt that this day should be no different.” I always admire couples who are able to craft weddings so true to themselves.
These two first met their first year of college, but it wasn’t until after graduation that they started dating (and some years after a mutual friend had suggested they would be a good match). Having grown up in the area, and then living together for five years in Somerville, these two describe Boston as where their hearts are. So it only made sense to celebrate here.
On a gloriously sunny afternoon, we met up at the Boston Public Gardens, where we made sure to visit the ducklings sculpture and swan boats. From there, we traveled with their immediate families across the river to Cambridge City Hall where E and M said their vows. Following the ceremony, they then returned to Boston for family portraits along Commonwealth Avenue. An intimate candle-lit dinner at Deuxave with toasts from their parents completed the celebration.
