As anyone who’s planned a wedding knows, your experience the day-of comes down to 90% planning and 10% rolling with it. Or maybe it’s 80/20. Or with rain, more like 50/50.
Jane and Ike’s wedding day brought steady showers and some morning phone calls to shift toward back-up plans (always a good idea, especially in New England). Their priorities for their wedding were to create a fun, not-too-formal celebration, and to enjoy the day with their immediate family and friends. They were determined to have a good time, and not let the drizzle dampen their joy, so they rolled with back-up locations for their first look, formals and ceremony. As I often remind my couples, rain doesn’t determine how big you smile or how happy you are to be marrying the love of your life and celebrating with all your guests.
Jane and Ike did a first look in the lobby of The Bostonian Hotel, and I just loved Ike’s reaction. From there, we headed over to The Living Room. The attached atrium was a lovely spot for the family formals.
Their ceremony was led by a friend, who encouraged each of them in turn to “put a ring on it.” Jane’s joyful excitement at being declared married was a favorite moment of the day. Afterward, we made sure to sneak away for a few minutes to make some portraits in Christopher Columbus Park, where they had originally planned to exchange their vows.
