I was so delighted when I first heard from Chris and Megan about photographing their Museum of Science wedding. Chris had been a groomsman at his friends’ Erik and Tracy’s wedding at the Lyman Estate, which I’d photographed a couple years previously. You can see Megan and Chris together in the group photo of Williams College – where these two first met and started dating.
Megan and Chris were so thoughtful in their approach to planning, but the thing I heard again and again was how much they were looking forward to spending time with everyone, whether those were the smaller more intimate groups during getting ready or when they could let loose on the dance floor with all their guests. In between, they had a beautiful ceremony at sunset, which included an invitation for all their guests to join in a meditation with them.
One highlight of this wedding for me was using the Museum of Science as a backdrop for making portraits. Megan and Chris had told me that they didn’t like posing, so they didn’t have a lot of photos of the two of them together, despite their 10-year relationship. They were hoping for pictures that were natural and tender, not saccharine, forced or cliché. And, they added, “we wouldn’t hate a shot or two with some drama.”
