Kate and Chris’s wedding was my last of 2015, a joyful capstone to a wonderful year.
On a crisp and sunny October day, Kate got ready with the help of her friends at her parents’ home in Nahant. In the Nahant Village Church, the same church where Kate’s parents had wed, Kate and Chris exchanged vows in a beautiful service graced with words and music from family and friends. The image of their walk back up the aisle, with the window light illuminating the joy on their faces, was an instant favorite.
Following the ceremony, we took a few portraits on the beach just down the road. I love when clients are a little adventurous in pursuit of pictures – note the clump of seaweed clinging to Kate’s veil as she gingerly picks her way along the rocks. Kate and Chris love the outdoors, so it was important to capture a few images of them in that glorious setting.
One of the things I loved about working with these two were their kind spirits, highlighted by the warmth with which they celebrated with their guests and also in the heartfelt toasts delivered by parents, siblings and friends. It didn’t hurt either that they wear their hearts on their sleeves, and were so expressive of their love and happiness.
Special thanks to Vanessa Walsh, my second photographer for the day, whose images appear interspersed with my own.
