I love spending time with couples on their engagement shoot, getting to know them in a more relaxed setting and hearing their stories. Like how when Michelle and Brooks met through mutual friends, it was not a case of love at first sight, but the second time when they hit it off. Or about their trip to Block Island when they got engaged, and Brooks knelt down to “tie his shoes” only he didn’t have any laces. Sometimes couples invite me to their favorite places, and I get to explore new areas. Brooks has a fondness for Manchester-by-the-Sea, but had never had the opportunity to bring Michelle. Last week, we made it happen. The weather forecast was iffy at best – possible thunderstorms right around the time we were scheduled to shoot. But we braved it and hoped for the best. We started near the harbor and Masconomo Park. Grey skies made for soft light, but also released a few raindrops. Slowly, the sun started to work its way out. We headed up the road to another, more secluded, park on the coast. After a short walk through the woods, we were rewarded with amazing views and beautiful light – a gorgeous setting for this adventurous couple.
