Weddings make my heart happy. Wanting to help people hold onto that joy is one of the reasons I’ve made photography my career. And Bryna and Martin’s backyard Northampton wedding made my heart so so happy.
When Bryna first reached out, she told me they were “planning for the biggest crowd we can afford, but keeping the rest of the wedding low key.” They hosted it on a beautiful family property, on a not-too-hot summer afternoon. Many of the guests flew in from across oceans – Martin’s family is in the UK, and Bryna has worked and made friends in Africa and Asia.
The sweet ceremony was led by Martin’s brother-in-law, in a garden where Bryna and her mother both played as children. Following the ceremony, Bryna’s uncle’s bluegrass band played while a new generation of children cavorted in the garden. After a seasonal farm-to-table dinner, a band made up of friends and family – put together just for the occasion – played a long dance set. It was wonderful to see the many way that Bryna and Martin’s community came together to support them and bring them joy at this celebration.
