Autumn is Alexa’s favorite season, and in that time of harvest and thankfulness, she and Rob were excited to gather their guests from near and far to spend time together and celebrate. It was a sunny day with the leaves at peak vibrancy. Just the kind of day you hope for when planning a fall wedding in New England.
Alexa and Rob met while studying abroad in England. With words and images, the centerpieces at their October Lyman Estate wedding told guests of their story together. From their time at Cambridge, to visiting Rob’s family in Germany, a trip to Chile, their engagement in New York City, and of course their time in Boston.
It was important to these two to find ways to honor their different cultural backgrounds. Alexa wore a delicate crown passed down through her mother’s Greek family and had henna on her hands as is traditional for Bengali brides. During the ceremony, there was a reading from the Quran, and in a surprise for Rob, Alexa said her vows in German. Her face shone as Rob teared up in response to this tender tribute. Before the cake cutting, they played a German newlywed game where they stood back to back and answered questions about their relationship by raising either their own shoe or that of the other person. Their expressions were priceless.
Alexa and Rob’s many thoughtful choices in planning their wedding created a day full of intention and beauty. And their loving dedication to each other and their guests is what made it a joy.
