Sometimes, the connection is there from the beginning. Bryan told me that even from the start of their relationship nearly seven years ago, it felt like they’d known each other forever. Niki echoed this, saying Bryan feels like home. It may have something to do with their mutual encyclopedic knowledge of South Park, their shared passion for art and design, or their ability to share a look and know what the other is thinking. But over the years, they’ve built a life and home together, fueled by Niki’s determination and Bryan’s home-cooked meals, and sweetened by their two adopted kitties.
One of the reasons they chose Peirce Farm at Witch Hill for their May wedding, besides the lovely grounds, modern barn and unique getting ready spaces, was that they allow you the use of the property for the full day. Niki and Bryan started the day surrounded by their closest friends and family who helped them get ready. While it was grey and misty outside, Niki lit up the room with her smile, practically sparkling with anticipation as she had her hair done and put on her dress.
One of my favorite series of images that day was when Niki’s dad arrived to see her in her dress, and then walk her to the ceremony and down the aisle. Niki wears her heart on her sleeve, and seeing the love and pride on her father’s face, I think she may get it from him.
Following the ceremony, which was officiated by two of their friends, they returned to the house with their family and wedding party for their portraits. I especially loved the library, with the dark wood, colorful books, and ornate windows. This room was cozy cocoon for their couples’ portraits, and allowed me to see not only the ease and comfort between them, but also playfulness and love.
Their reception in the barn kicked off with their first dance to “Tonight, Tonight” by the Smashing Pumpkins. I couldn’t help by smile through the whole thing, not only because of how sweet these two are together, but because the song was also a special one at my wedding eight years ago.
Thank you Niki and Bryan for welcoming me in to your wedding day and allowing me to tell your wedding story.
