Clara and Jesse were married on a perfect June day at Camp Kiwanee, under bright sun and towering pines. Their ceremony was full of personal details – their officiant shared how they had fallen in love over word games in college, the slow process of melding their lives, and how they had already exchanged solemn vows to each other, but wanted to be married with the full participation of their community. All those in attendance were asked to sign their marriage certificate, which had been calligraphed by a friend. Their reception featured a delicious vegan feast, homemade cake and cupcakes, and traditional Israeli circle dances.
