When Stephanie and I were e-mailing back and forth about their engagement session and trying to find a location, I suggested taking a more documentary approach at home and in their neighborhood, with a few more posed portraits for good measure. The at home engagement session is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, so I was really happy when they agreed. Stephanie wrote “We are really excited about your idea of having the session at home / in our neighborhood! It sounds perfect for what we want to get out of the pictures. I love the idea that when we look back at the pictures over the years we’ll be able to say “that’s where we lived when we were just starting out, when we didn’t have much”, it’ll be a reflection of how we actually live, not just a place we enjoy that we went to once to take nice pictures. I just love it!” And I just want to say “exactly!” to all of this.

Stephanie and John-Paul welcomed me into their home on a recent Sunday morning. They made waffles for brunch, as is their delicious tradition, and then we took their dog for a walk in the park. Afterwards, they played a game of cribbage (they play year-long tournaments!) in their sunny living room in the company of their kitty.

Love these!!! I love the at home idea – and of course Levi trying to get in on that breakfast, and Iroh inserting himself into the game. These are so wonderful!

These are amazing photos, the Iro/Cribbage one is awesome. All if them are really well composed.
